The leather handle arrived damaged and wrapped in electrical tape. Shown here stripped down to it’s original paper tape.
A new piece of vegetable tanned leather was wet molded into shape and stitched in place.
Stained black, burnished and finished.

Edge slicking is a process of smoothing a raw cut leather edge using friction. It can be a very lengthy process, depending on the level of smoothness the leatherworker tries to achieve. The edges of these wrap + snap cable keepers above have been cut, shaped, bevelled, stained, slicked, waxed and slicked again.
