A few snaps from the week…
+ Seed shopping, a little seed planting, and some weeding in the garden.
+ Made a rucksack in a new waxed canvas. I LOVE this color. That iPhone pic doesn’t do it full justice.
+ We hung some small art, and then discussed our bedroom and bathroom remodel. Oh yes! There will be some remodelling this year.
+ I stopped at the lake on my trip to the post office. Incredible clouds that day, and the bluest sky possible.
+ Sewing. Lots and lots of sewing.
+ Our espresso machine bit the dust so we are making coffee in the old vac pot again, until a replacement arrives (thank goodness for warranties).
It’s interesting to see the juxtaposition of that newfangled stainless steel contraption, next to the simplicity of the glass vac pot. That vacuum coffee maker is 70 years old or so, and it has never once failed us.
This set of snapshots is actually a mix of iPhone and DSLR photos. I’ve been thinking about photography quite a bit, and how much I enjoy it. For me it can turn an average day, into a day filled with creative art. I also enjoy the viewing and editing of photos. I really get into the details, and it shows me a few things about my perception, and what draws my eye. I’d like to push myself to explore photography more and might try to use this little “snapshots” series which seems to be forming, as an outlet for that. So I will be spending more time with the DSLR this week.
Welcome to a new week. I hope your weekend was fun and creative. We had KILLER weather here on the Oregon coast. Felt like a little taste of summer.

Hi i have this rucksack except nonwaxed. do you think it would be ok if i put a wax coating over mine? i recently bought some to use on fabric.
abby
Hi Adriana, I don’t know the product you have and haven’t tried to wax a finished product myself, but I can’t see why it wouldn’t be okay to do this, if the product indicates this kind of application. If you want to do a test on some of the fabric your bag is made of, to see how it will darken the color / change the feel, I’d be happy to send you a little sample piece. Just let me know abby@infusionfibers.com

Interesting way to make coffee, I’ve never seen a pot like that! About the photography: I’m thinking the same in this period – I’m using Instagram since a year and I love its quickness and the freedom to shot whenever I like, but I’d like to learn more on my Reflex. Also lately I’m very fascinated by analog photography (but it could be expensive for me now!).

Seeds! so exciting. and I love that new bag color!
That vacuum pot is incredible! I also love seeing it next to that espresso machine! So sorry about it not working, but I’m glad you are able to enjoy manual coffee instead! We only have a collection of manual contraptions, and hope to eventually enter the modern present by investing in a espresso machine. We shall see..

hello abby,
i wanted to ask you what kind of plant it is the one you have
framed in wooden frame? it is absolutely charming and
my first attention went to that one.
on your most recent post, you started sewing seed already? is it that warm
enough in your area already?? that must feel so good.
i did some repotting and cleaned up some of my plants and getting
my finger in the dirt…really feel alive and satisfying to be outside.
enjoy your spring garden and i look forward to your
upcoming post.
abby
Hi Coco, The plant in the frame is “common eyebright.” It is an antique book plate I found on etsy.
It is still cool here, but warming up quite a lot. I am mostly planting indoors right now, but it is a nice time to plant peas, beets, broccoli, carrots, and other cool weather loving plants outdoors. I have planted just a few things outside so far. It does feel great to be in the garden again. Glad to know you are enjoying some digging in the dirt too š

thanks abby. lets enjoy new season’s arrival.
